REGISTRATION OF ARMS.

We have been requested by the CoUector of Customs to caU public attention to the proclamation under the Arms Act, which is dated the 19 th ultimo, and which gives the foUowing as the boundaries of the Auckland South District: —" All that district in the province t of Auckland bounded towards the north-east by the sea coast, and shores and islands, from Cape Colville to the entrance to Tauranga harbor; thence towards-the south-east by a fine to -Cambridge; thence by the Waikato river to 'the south-eastern boundary of the Waikato river, to the south-eastern boundary of the Waikato confiscated block ; and thence by the .south-eastern boundaryof the Waikato confiscated block to the Puniu jiver towards the south by the Pvniu river, _to its confluence with the Waipariver, 5 thence by the southern i boundary, of the Waikato confiscated block to , the summit of .Mount Pirongia; and thence; .hyaline torthe entrance to.Raglan harbour j, .towards the west by the sea coast to the entrance,, To Manukau harbor, and thence To the V?hau /[ creek and portage to Waitejriata harbour;; and towards the north-west by the sea coast , and shores, and islands of the Gulf of Hauraki to. the point;of commencement. The 11th clause of the Act, which this pro- ,;, clamafcion brings into effect, is as foUows :■— " Any .person, whether licensed or npt under ; the said Act, to have in possession or keep arms, who shall, after the proclamation of any district including the place where he shall reside, hdye. hi his custody or possession for, thirty days or more any arms, without'having obtained, under the provisions of the fourth and fifth sections of this Act, a Ucense for such arms ; or any other person who shall, after the expiration of the time limited by this Act for marking' the ai-ms which he maybe licensed to keep, have in his custody or possession any arms not duly maiked as aforesaid, shall, upon being convicted thereof, forfeit any suni not exceeding £100, and ail such arms shall in evei-y such case be forfeited to the use of her Majesty, if the justices before whom such conviction shall take place shall so adjudge."
