PRINCE OF WALKS THEATRE.
I The expurgated edition of " Jack Sheppard" was produced last night before a good audience, and was, on the whole, a very successful representation. A lengthened critique on the i play we are obliged to hold over from pi-essure on our*columns. Suffice it to say that, under the hand of the " Lord Chamberlain of Eng- . j laud" the play is very proper; so much so, indeed, as to be wholly emasculated. The villains.are all mild villains. Crime does not , attain to apotheosis. There is plenty of shoot-ing-irons and, red fire, some really thrilling j and affecting scenes, very striking tableaux i vivant, nothing naughty, and crime is punished in the orthodox way.
