We have had the pleasure of inspecting at Mr. Upton's, Queen-street, the baton and caskets presented to Michael Quinn, Bandmaster lSt^i &.T., by the Auckland Choral Society. The whole affair is a most elegant present, and will, we have no doubt, be highly prized by }.lr. Quinn. The illumination, which is exquisitely done, has been executed by Mr. T. Hall, the baton made by Mr. Teutenbcrg, oi Wellesley-street, and the casket by Mr. Seufert. At the bottom of the handle of the baton is a splendid specimen of Thames quartz, richly studded with gold. The casket is manufactured of mottled kauri, and inlaid with New Zealand wood. The address and case are lined with purple velvet, and altogether it is amos magnificent and costly present. Yesterday, two anniversary sermons were preached in the Primitive Methodist Church, Edwardes street—that in the morning by the Eev. J. Berry, who chose as his text the 18th verse of the 3rd chapter of the 2nd iipistlo of fct. Peter ; that in the afternoon by the Jiev. P. If. Cornford, who preached from the sth, bth, and 7th verses of the 6th chapter of Isaiah. The total of the two collections amounted to £6 3s 2d. We have to call attention to the advertisement of Dramatic, Vocal and Instrumental Illustrations, to be given by Mr. and Mrs. George Darrell, accompanied by Mr. Alfred Singer, at the Davenport Hall, North Shore, on Tuesday, March 29; at Onehunga, on Friday, April Ist ; at Otahuhu, on Saturday, April 2nd.
