JAPAN.
A collision oourred on the 24th January close off Yokohama., between the P.audO.Co.'s steamer Bombay and the United States corvette Oneida, just leaving Japan on the homeward voyage. The Oneida sank almost immediately, and only 56 were saved out of 176 souls on board. Captain Eyre, of the Bombay, is blamed for not rendering assistance, but on an investigation shows that he was not aware, owing to the darkness of the night, of the amount of harm done. There has been a great fire at Yeddo. Over a thousand houses were destroyed.
