Interchanges of princely visits continue between Austria and Prussia.
After a protracted session of the Cabinet, the Kaiser accepted the resignation of the Ministry ; one section favoured the policy of centralisation with German predominance; the other favoured decentralisation and federation. The former triumphed by the secession of their opponents.
Great difficulties are ahead, owing to the conflicting demands of the various people composing the empire.
