By the "Maid of Erin," we have cates from Sydney of August 24th, one day later than those received per "Maukin." The "Maid of Erin" anchored at 10 o'clock on Sunday evening, after a very boisterous passage of 10 days, during which her deck-load of horses were lost. She has landed only four, one of them being a magnificent animal. No new arrivals are mentioned in the papers of the 24th. 11. M. Steam sloop Acheron, cast anchor in Farm Cove, on the ISth, and is expected in New Zealand shortly. On the 23rd ultimo, a new steamer, built byMr. Chowne for the Hunter River Company, and the largest tner built in the Colony of New South Wales, was launched, and named the Eaule. It is not expected that she will be ready for sea before December. The intention of the Directors is, ne behe\e, to place her in the Mcreton Bay trade.
