A ROYAL VISIT.

Akaroa has been honored ! One of her leading citizens has received a pergonal invitation to be present as a friend

at tho cor nation of a great monarch ! Who can say we are obscure after that ? Who can say we are obscure, we repent, when, thousands of miles across the azure Pacific, comes a glowing mandate, which, like Joseph's coat, is of many colors, calling on one who absolutely lives here, and whom we sometimes even shake hands with, to attend the coronation of a King? We wish the favored one had been Mayor of Akaroa. for then the name of our beloved town and district would have been bandied about amongst the illustrious thousands who will crowd the antechambers of the Monarch, who, through our friend, has done us such honor. But let us not repine, for no doubt tho honored one will speak often, and with fervor of his beloved home. May our representative have a pleasant trip and enjoy all possible health, and may he return to us crammed with pleasant stories of the King of Honolulu and the dusky but beautiful partner of his throne. We hope that the ambassador from Akaroa will not get too proud, and if perchance he is ennobled, that he will never show by a single wink that he is surprised at his el-vation. Let him speak as one accustomed to the society of princes, so that we, through him, may be glorified !
