CRICKET.

Oil'" correspondent writes: —A specia train, consisting of 15 carriages, arrived at Birdling's Flat on Monday morning, filled with excursionists to this new field for an outing. The lakes, the sea, the beach, the hills, and the bush, must together prove largely attractive to many of the settlers of the Plains. By the same train the Lincoln Cricket Club came to meet the Little River Club on the ground of the latter. Mr Buchanan and others were on the beach to meet the train and escort the Lincoln men to Little River. At the hour appointed the wickets were pitched.and_ . Little River took the field. The a very pleasant one, and the ground well V* carpeted with turf, and the contest was kept up with unflagging spirit. Messrs Blair and Taylor bowled for Lincoln, and bowled well. In the first inning 3 the Little River men showed good fielding, as the score will show. Both sides played very cautiously, and runs were obtained with difficuly. Messrs Harry and Joe Reynolds, of Little River, scored the most, the latter, Joe, reaching 28 in tbe first inningd, thereby securing the plaudits of the ladies, of whom many were preFent. Mr Buchanan, as usual, was of conspicuous excellence as long-stop, and Mr Radford as wicket-keeper. Some skilful catches jM wero made by Mr Snow and Mr Allan Leslie, but these particulars will be supplied fully by the appended score, furnished by J the secretary of the Little River Club:— * Lincoln.
