Arrived—Yesterday, P. and 0. Company's Ballarat, with inward Suez mail. Arrived—This morning, Union Company's Arawata, from Bluff. In the Intercolonial cricket match yesterday, McDonnell, for the Vicforians, scored 79. The following is the latest betting on the Champion race:—6 to 4 against Navigator ; 2to 1 against Commotion ; 7 to 1 against Guesswork, and 8 to 1 against Darebin. Received Dec. 28, 11.45 a.m. Sydney, Dec. 28. The latest telegrams from Clarence report that six persons have been drowned through the wreck of the steamehip New England. Seven still remain on the vessel; 28 have been saved, but it is supposed that there were twelve others unaccounted for. A terrific sea was running at the Heads, and the position of those still on the vessel was most critical. The catastrophe has caused great consternation at Clarence.
