The Akaroa Mail. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1882.

Regatta.—Committeemen are reminded of the meeting at Mr McGregor's to-night.

Hospital Supplies.—■ Tenders are invited for supplies to the Akaroa Hospital for the ensuing year. St Peter's Church. —The Rev. W. Duvidson is going to take charge of this church for tho next six months. Mr Baker's school.—The annual sports at tills school take place to-morrow at French Furm. A large number of visitors as usual is expected to be present.

Sale of Regatta Privileges.—Special attention is called to the sale of Regatta privileges, which takes place to-day at 3p.m, slinr.i, on the Borough Reserve, opposite Mr Garwood's store. R.M Court. —At the court on Friday last, before J. Aylmer, Esq., R.M., C. A. Rich and Win. McDonald were fined l(b and 5s respectively for breaches of the Cattle Trespass Ordinance. French Farm School.--To-morrow evening nn entertainment will bo given in the Government School at French Farm, in aid of the prize fund. A number of ladies and gentlemen at Akaroa have promise! their aid for the first part, which will consist of vocal and instrumental music. The second part will bo the well known comedietta of " Borrowed Plumes," in which some ladies and gentlemen resident in the locality will perform. A full house is ex peeled. The Auckland Cricketers at Christchurch. —This match, which commenced on Saturday, seems to have awakened general interest. Canterbury went in first, and made 130. of which G. Watson made 36, W. P. Reeves 48, and IP. Wilding 20 (not out). Auckland then went to the wickets, and made 162 before they were disposed of, or 32 to the good. Of these Robinson made 2-1, Barton 21, Ameil 21, and Blair 15.

Little River Licensing Committee.— The quarterly meeting of this committee was held on Saturday last, at Little River School. Present—Messrs A. P. O'Callagban (chairman), J. Gobbie, J. Wilson, and W. Joblin. The police reported that the fire escapes ordered at last licensing meet ing had been procured by the licensees. They also stated that some brandy and whisky from Garwood's Hill Top Hotel had been analyzed by Mr Bickerton, and declared to be perfectly pure of all adulteration except 17 per cent of good water, a most satisfactory analysis. Tho repairs to tho Lake Forsyth Hotel had been completed, and the other houses in the district were conducted in a most satisfactory manner. The Committee ordered the inspector of licensed houses in the district to procure samples of liquors from all the hotels in the district, for the purpose of analysis, at his own discretion, tho report of such analysis to bo produced at next quarterly meeting. The license of Garwood's hotel on the hill top was transferred from Henry Brickland to Thomas Brooks nd that of the Lake Forsyth Arms from John Olphcrt to Duncan Beminont Wallis. Tho meeting then adjourned.
