Betting: 3 to 1 agst Sweet William. 4 to 1 Mist.ken, 7 to 1 Little Jack, 12 to 1 Sting and Cuiinamulla, 20 to 1 the others. Stock well went away at the start, and remained at the front for nearly the whole of tho way, attended by Flying Jib, Gudarz, and Little Jack. They ran in much this order until the distance was r<;;u-he), where D.irebin looked dangerous, but hi.< weight told against him. The Assyrian then c>me in flyintr, and won by half ft letigtfi, the same distance separating the second and third horses, Time— 3min 40sec. The victory was not popular, as the public had supported other horses. The ring gain largely. There were 80,000 on tho ground though the race was run in pouring rain.
