Report for ihe week ending Friday oven ing, tbe I.3th October :— Business in the grain trade during Ihe past week has been of the sinne semi-dor-mant diameter which lias characterised it for some time past. Beyond local requirements and a few intercolonial orders, no trade has been transacted, ai d there is little or i! 0 alteration to record in values. The growing crops are now far enough advanced to cause speculation as to harvest pros)■ect:-\ which for the present are very fooil. .(Cain, however, is much wanted. Wheat. —Mil lin/r samples of good quality are woilh 4s 6d to 4s 7d per bushel delivered in Gbristehuich : demand small. Sapping lines of piime milling wheat 4s Rid to os per bu.shel f.o.b. ; second quality, 4s 2d to 4s 4d delivered in Christchurch ; chick wheal:, 3s Gd to 4s per bushel. Onts. — The increased local deu and which has been vir-duo for the past fortni'.ht is still maintained, tho effect has been a flight increase on former rates. Good milling quality, os od to os 4d per , feed quality, 3s Id to 3s 2d, delivered in ChiLlehurch. Barley.—Little or no business ins been transacted during the past week. Really v.rime malting Wni-les are exceedingly H-jarce ; for this quality 4s Gd to 5s is the quotation. Infaiior malting samples are unsaleable ; feed quality 3d 4d to 3s 7d per bushel, f.o.b. Grass S'eds.—fSTo business has been transacted during llie past week. Values nominal. Potatoes.—The value of the tuber has much increased lately. Socks appear to bo small, wliilt! the demand is fairly good. Sal s have been effected at 50s to 55s per ton at country *tation.H. sacks extra. Cheese and Butter. —Tne former is worth from 81 to Si I ; the latter, lid to Is per lb.
