PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held in the office on the 7th current. Present — Messrs Peltigrew (chairman), Pitcaithly, Paton, Lyall, and Hay. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read— From the Chief Surveyor, re narrowing of road through Mr Paton's sections. The Clerk was instructed to reply that tbe Board had recommended the narrowing of this road for only a few chains at Mr Paton's house. From Mr Holmes, for explanation as to the rates he was expected to pay. Explanation given. From Mr Menzies, of Macintosh Bay, expressing satisfaction with the manner in which the roads there had been kept. The Chairman was authorised to pay the contractor, a'ter he had received his account, and one of the members of the Board had seen the Road. From Mr Jas. Neil, asking for Borne repairs. The Chairman was requested to try and send the surfaceman a day. From surfaceman, giving monthly report. TENDERS. It was agreed to call for tenders for one of the contracts of Holmes' Bay road, and also for filling and carting road metal on the new Akaroa road. THE CEMETERY ROAD. y ' Mr Hay, cf Annandale, promised to give a written statement of the compensation which would satisfy him for land for tbe deviation of the Cemetery road, after the surveyor had been on it. The Clerk was instructed to write the surveyor to come at his earliest convenience. INJURY TO ROADS. There was reference made to the injury done to the roads by Messrs Alexander and Jas. Savage: and Mr Paton agreed to I call tlie attention of these gentlemen to | the matter; and the Chairman undertook t to speak to Mr Robinson about similar iiijii'-y hy his bullock sledge. GRASS SEED. It appears to he the mind of the Bmrd, that the same roads should lie let this season as were let last season for grass ■ seed. TOUND DUES. The pound-keeper handed in £4 7s 6d for pound dues. ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £13 4s isd, the Board adjourned till next month.
