We pnb'ish the following notice from the Gazette for the benefit of the libraries in the; County. £We need hardly point out that in-taut appiioaion should he made!*" tWe intend to comment on [he matter and endeavor to explain more fully at a future date. " Education Department. Wellington, 20th September, 1832.
Notice is hereby given ih it tho sum of six thousand pounds (£(3,1)0/) has been voted by Parliament tor distribution to public lihrariee.
The distribution wiil fako place on the 31st January. 1883. and no claim will be considered thai shall n->t liave been sent, in in due form, and leccived by the 8 rretary for E.iiication. Wellington, before the 22nd January, 1883.

The income of each library may be state! either for tho year ending 31st December. 1882, or for the year ending with that day in the year 1882 on which the iinnual accounts of the libraiy were made no.
The distribution will not be in proportion to the several inco nes of the libraries ; but a nominal addition of £25 will be made to tlu> amount of each income, arid the vote of £6.000 will be divided in proportion to the amounts as thus .augmented.
Application to .share in the di tiibuu'on must be iii-.de in the foim of a statutory declaration by the Chairniin, or Secretary, or Treasurer of ihe institution on behalf of which it is made ; and such declaration shall be in the following form :—
