Supreme Court.—The Criminal Sessions of the Supreme Court were coiieluded on Tuesday, when the cast's remaining on the calender were disposed of as follows :— Frances Lines, charged with perjury, was acquitted ; Maiy Berry pleaded guilty to several indictments for re.-eiving stolen goods, and was sentenced to three years penal servitude ; Tepene to Arowhitu, a Maori, charged witli an imiecent assault upon a Maori girl, was acquitted ; Matilda Hansen, charged with stealing from tlu: pensoii, was convicted, and sentenced to sis moiithu' imprisonment with haul labor. The Civil Sittings will begin on Monday next at 11 o'clock a.m.

Ma Bayly's Nbw 'Hotel.—Mr Bayley has accepted the tender of Mr Lear, of Chrislchinch, for the erection of his hotel for £1497. The contractor is, however, to make an allowance of M.oO, in considerlion of the lime of completion beiiiic extended to the Ist of Fot»nia»y. Mr B.iyley agreed to the extension, because on "consideration he feared that th« brick laying would d>e damaged by pushing tho work. Vestky Meeting.—A meeting of the vestry of St. Peter's Church was held on Wednesday evening, Mr A. 11, Westenra, churchwarden, presiding. A letter was read from the Primate, saying that Mr Stocker would be relieved from the charge of the parish at tho end of tha present month, and that he would provide a clergyman to act till the nominators appointed a successor to Mr Stocker, if the parish would guarantee the minimum stipend fund of £230 per annum.
