The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the produce markets for the week ending Sept. 28th as follows:— Wool.—During tho week we hnd an auction sale of wool, consisting cliitfly of scoured parcels. The attendance was not Jaige, but nearly every lot was cleared at former rates. Greasy merino made G£d to 7d ; half bred, 6£d ; cross bred, Gd ; and lambs, 7£d ; scoured merino realised Is to Is4fd ; do pieces, lid to lsOf 1 ; crossbred. lHd to Id 4£d ; do locks and pieces, (Hd To Is. Latest news from London regarding the progress of the sales is rot of an assuring character. The demand w weaker, whilst rates nre barely maintained, especially for faulty merino and cross-breds, Grass Seed.—Several parcels of ryegrass are offering nt 6d to 9d reduction on former rates, but the sf-aeon being clo>ed there nre no buyers. Cocksfoot, too, is in less demand, which is fortunate, as stocks nre exceedingly bare, and to execute a large order s£d would have to be given. We have been able to purchase at s£d up 1-o now, hut Did-is asked by holders. Potatoes are firm at 70s f.o.b. for parcels, nnd some ordeis have been filled on this basis. Dairy Produce. —Business in these lines has been very slack during the week, and quotations are, consequent!}', difficult to arrive at. lid for prime butter, and 8d to BAd tor good cheese are about cur-ent rates.
