LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of this Boa'd was held on the 4th inst. Present —Meiers R. A. Forbes (chairman), F. H. Parkinson, J. Wilson, and F. Birdling. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed,the Clerk's report was considered, after which it was resolved that the repairs to Western Valley road he postponed for better weather. Mr Parkinson proposed end Mr Wilson seconded, that tenders be called to deliver about l€oo cubic yards of shingle between Caton'a Bay and the old rehoolhouse at Little River; to he taken front the lieach by water. (Carried). Clerk to prepare specification to be considered at next meeting. Alternative tenders for curting , same by road will be also received. The Clerk was ordered to attend to the Ahuriri Saddle rond, by getting some ■dangerous holes filled in, to obviate an ; Accident occuring. j An application was received from Mr Rainey, t'lat some metal may be placed on the road opposite his farm. It was resolved that as the road referred to is about being reformed, the Board ahoiild not comply with the request. It was resolved that tenders be invited to fence about 20 chains of the road lead- i ing through section 4264, in Little RiverCorrespondence w;is received— From the Chief Surveyor, intimating that he has instructed Mr Watt to survey the road leading to reserve 1231, in Price's valley ; the Board paying for the necessary labor. From the Akaroa County Council, enclosing letter from Selwyn County Council re drainage of the Ahuriri lagoons, and Tequeflting that the residents in the neighborhood may give an estimate of the probable cost, and the beet mode o£ doing :8O effectively. The Chairman said thai having called a inee ing at Tai Tapu for this purpose, a committee was appointed to visit and report ; as requested ; that the-committee Slaving done so, resolved that an engineer miay be employed to take levels, etc.. with ;a view to'ascertain the Iwet means of permanently lowering the water in eaid lagoons ; ami that the Springs Rond Board having had a grant of. £"25 from the Selwyn County Council towards said drainage, be requesle<3 to employ said engineer. Hirdling, offering to lease or I ipimhnso the Board's eottaire in Ceotins; 'Bay, as the present occupant was leaving. It was resolved that as this cottage has $>een placed at the disposal oC the Board ifor the me of surface men to live in, it -cannot be-otherwise disposed of. Mr Hay, purveyor, waited on the Board relative to the position of ft road leading through sections 5769 and 7021, as on a former occasion the Board deviated from the Crown-granted road. Resolved, that the Crown-granted road be retained. Proposed by Mr Parkinson, seconded by Mr Wilson, and carried, " Hiat Mr Coop be requested to allow the road passing through sections 25449 and 5J1487 to be placed on the map, according to arrangement." After passing accounts for payment, ithe Board adjourned.
