BANKS PENINSULA FARMERS CLUB

A meeting of this club was held on Saturday at the Road Board Office, Head of the Bay. There was a good attendance, the president (Mr Piper) in the chair. MINUTES. The minutes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed. chairman's statement. The Chairman said the meeting had been adjourned to the 19th of August, but the weather had been so bad that there were no people in attendance. It was then decided to hold the meeting that day so as to allow of committees reporting regarding chessetts and the Agricultural and Pastoral Show ground sites. There we:e no reports, however, from either o. these committees, and it was moved by Mr Chappell, "That an extension of time be'granted to the Site and Chessett committees, Mr McGregor to be the convener of the first, and MrDuxbury to be th» convener or' the second."

Seconded by Mr Cheeklny and carried Til 1C IXC'HU'OIIATION OK THK SOCIETY.

The Chairman stated that tho Soi-iety having now been incorporated, only those were members who had signed the petition to Government. He requested that others present, who had not had an opportunity of signing, would allow tin mselves to bo ballotted for at once.

Messrs Duxbiiry. B. Mora. T. Mould, G. Mould, G. Odell, John Moffaf, J. Libciu, and T. Ware, sen., were then ballotted for, and declared duly elected. THE BY -LAWS. Mr Checkley moved—" Tij.it the secretary be instructed to get 300 copies of the by-laws printed, and that one be furnished to every member." SUDSCRIFI'IONS. It was pointed out that under the new rules the annual subscription was £1 per annum. Members who had previous , y paid 10s for their subscription to the Fanners' Club would therefore have to pay another 10s, and new members 20s.

MrT. Mould proposed— ,l That notice be given that all subscriptions must be paid to the Secretary on or before the Ist of October.

Seconded by Mr G. Mould and carried. CORRESPONDENCE. The following letter from Messrs Charlick Bros, was read :—

" Adelaide, August 9, 1882

« gj r) —"We would feel oblige 1 if you will kindly introduce us to members of your Club, an you suggest. We are Open to do business with your Colony in produeo. — Yours, etc.,

" Ciiarlick Bros."

After discussion, Mr Jacobson moved— " That tho Secretary write to Messas Charlick Bros., and furnish them with the names of the producers in the Club." Seconded by Mr Libeau and carried. THE CLUB SEAL. The Chairman pointed out it was neces- [ snry to obtain a seal for the Club, The Secretary was authorised to procure a rubber seal, at as moderate a cost as possible, inscribed " Banks' Peninsula Farmsrs' Club, incorporated 1882," on an oval stamp, the name of the Association to be round the seal, and date, &c, across. EXHIBITION. Mr Chapp 11 reported he had visited Christchurch and procured the medals and certificates awaided to the club. He also gave accounts of sale of shelves, etc.. and handed in cheque for amount realised PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES. The medals and certiicates were then handed to the various owner* as follows: —Cheese : Mr Vogan Ist and 2nd prizes, Mr Olell 3rd, Mr S. Hunt 3rd. Wool : Mrs Shadbolt Ist, Messrs M>isefield Bros. 2nd. Tripoli: Mr Kennedy Ist. SPECIAL PRIZE OF THE ASSOCIATION. The prize offered by the Farmers' Club for the actual maker of the Ist prize cheese exhibited was awarded to \lrs Vogan, and great congratulations were offered to Mr Vogan on his success, to which he suitably responded. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £4 odd were passed for payment. TUB SHOW. Mr Jacobson called attention to the fact that in tliw event of an Agricultural and Pastoral Show not being hold this year it would be wise to make arrangements to hold a good show of produce at the Akaroa Horticultural and Industrial Exhibition, to be held on January Ist, 1883.

The discussion was adjourned till after the report of the Sito Committee at the next meeting.
