MURDER AT STRATFORD.

New Plymouth, August 29. The Stratford corresp mdent of the Herald sends the following pirlioulars of s the Stratford inurdor: — Two Tyrolese' named Knowlesand Antonio Sehoncll,were up at Opiinako yesterday to .see about some bush falling, and were seen returning , about half a mill! from Stratford, yohonell was s>'un passing through the town alone on his way home to Midliurst. Some lime after Mr 'Iwigg, foreman for the Ngare Rod Board, going up the Opunake rotd, di covered Knowles' body stabbed in the b ck and abdomen, and covered with b ood. Ho was in a reclining poition against the bank at the side of the road, about five minutes' walk nearer Stratford than where the men were last ween together. There were signs of a severe .struggle having taken place, the victim having evidently fought bird for life, Schonell was arrested at Midhurst last night by Sergeant C.ibill and Constable T.ipp. When Tapp approached Suhonell the latter exclaimed, '• I suppose you have conn) to take me away for killing that man," Schonell tin's morning led the police to a spot where ho hail hidden the knife under a log, clo?:e to the spot where the deed was commuted. S-'honell is supposed to be mad. Me wts in a lunatic asylum some time ago. Ue has been committed for trial.
