A" spring progresses the inquiry will, no doubt, become more general, though, judging by the Inst few peasons, prices as ruling in the month of August have been equal to those of a later date. In pigs of the class on offer on Wednesday there seems to be a great change in value. About 150 head of light weight and inferior quality porkers and stores represented the bulk of the entry, and wheti er from the over supply, or some other cause, we cannot say, but prices for the lines before mentioned ruled 30 per cent less than of late. Heavier sort* and better quality lots sold at unaltered prices. Tho totals yarded for the day comprised 4588 sheep, 307 head of cattle, and 172 pigs.

Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report :— On Thursday, wu held a well-attended sale of sheepskins. &c, in our New Zealand Wool Stores. The competition was dull and prices were on a level with last week's rates. 2197 skins were catalogued.— Butchers' cossbred, largo, 5s od, 5s lid, 6s 6d ; do do, second quality, 3s 91, 4s 3d, 4s lid, 5s 5d ; do merino, large, 4s 10d, 5s sd, 5s lid ; do do, second quality, 2s 9d, 3s 3d, 3s 10d, 4s 4d, 4s 10d ; country crossbred, large, 4s 7d, 5s Id. 5s 9d ; do do, medium, Is lid, 2s Bd, 3s 4d, 4s, 4s 7d ; do do, small, Is. Is sd, Is lid ; do merino, lar<:e,4s 2d, 4s Bd. 5s 3d ; dodo, medium, U 10vl, 2s sil, 3s, 3s 7-1, 4s 2d; do do, small, lid, Is 4d, Is 10d. Fat and tallow—There was a good attendance of the trade and brisk demand ; 82 packages were catalogued, and all sold. Fat, best quality, clean and well saved, to 3d peril); second quality, from 2|d to 2fd per Ib ; tallow, in small lots, in bags, at 3d to perlb for first quality, and from for second quality ; tallow, in casks, at 26s 6d per cwt. Hides are dull of sale. We disposed of dry salted hides at 4d per Ib.
