Mr MePhail offered, in the event of the jettybeing repaired, to build a trolly and lay down a now tramway (the material to be supplied). Mr McKay, who objected to the jetty being used as at present, was willing to subscribe if a roadway to it is kept clear of firewood,-but did not think two shillings per head sufficient for tho purpose. On their return they confirmed the opinion that two shillings per head was insufficient, and several gentlemen offering to subscribe a larger amount, it was agreed to take down the name.** of those willing to subscribe, when subscriptions to the amount of £4 5s were promised. Mr Bussell then proposed that a committee of five be appointed to canvas the householders of Wainui for subscriptions to get the j'-tiy repaired as soon as sufß ient funds are collected, and to do their best to keep it in good order for the next twelve months. This was seconded by Mr J. T. Wright and carried. Messrs Bussell, Kennedy, Bates, McKay, and MePhail were then elected, after which a vote of thanks terminated the meeting.
