TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE PENINSULA.
Gentlemen. — Wo have inserted an advertisement elsewhere calling a public meeting for the 29th inst for the purpose of considering tiie advisableness of e&- ' tiblishing a refrigerating company for the Peninsula. The object of this letter is to explain clearly why we did so without consulting a number of those interested, and getting them to join us in signing tbe advertisement. We are aware that shares in the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company are being rapidly taken up and we think
that if wo arc to start one of our own, tho sooner we do so the better, for it is only by united action we can hope to succeed. It is needless to recapitulato here, tho almost numberless benefits that would be conferred upon the Peninsula by the establishment of sach an industry, and we therefore hopo that sheop farmers and dairy farmers, storekeepers and every resident interested in the good of tbe Peninsula will attend tho meeting, and when there will freely express his views on the subject. V. V. MASEFIELD, ) Signers of the EDWARD S. LATTER, j advertisement.
