An Involuntary Dip. — Telegraph messengers have to run hither Mid thither, and to deliver their messages in manifold places. Our local messenger on Wednesday Inst was anxious to forward a dispatch to Wainui, and in the praiseworthy endeavor to catch the steam launch before she departed lie hastened himself so far as to reach the Government wharf steps just in time. The Kestrel was laying alongside, and this young gentleman was stepping aboard when that vessel gave a sudden lurch, and precipitated our messenger into the briny deep. It is satisfactory to relate that it was low water at the time, and though he struck out for a Jesting place, ho was only in about 3 or 4 feet of water, Unaided he reached the Pioneer, and Captain Wight took the messnge to its destination, while our friend took himself oft"to get dry clothes.
