MAIL SERVICE.
To the Editor. Sir, —As a community, I think we have very patiently submitted to circumstances without a, murmur, but I think just now the shoe pinches rather tight, which makes ua cry out. Wo have put up with, much inconvenience for many years in our mail service without a word of complaint, when our more favored neighbors have received every benefit it was possible to obt.iin. The change in the mail service a few weeks ago was a great advantago to. us, but such an arrangement did not suit our Pigeon Bay neighbors. They must be considered ; they always have been. A public meeting is held ; the train time table, railway interests, Little River, and everything else that aifected Pigeon Bay, must be altered to convenience them. An appeal id made to the other districts for help ; the Chief Postmaster and Railway Manager must he interviewed. You rushed to their aid with a leader, you pleaded the justice of their claim, and were gratified when peace was again restored. Now, what is the result? 1 see by the Chri*tcliurch papers that in future mails close at Christchiirch on Mondays and Fridays at 7 a.m. for Little Akaloa, Okain's, and La Bon's Bays. Now, just for a moment think to what inconvenience this puts the inhabitants of this part of the Peninsula. If 1 write a letter on Friday morning from L'! Bon's Bay to Chrisicliurcli, it ..rrives in town too late on iSatimliy for an answer from any business uou«e ; thu iiiail closes earlj , cm Monday morning, consrHjiiuutiy i. have to wait rill the following Friday, liefore I can get any answer to my letters; and by such an arrangement your Tuesday's paper his to remain in (xurmnri Bay till Friday—not very convenient nor encouraging tv your subscribers.—Yours,etc., A SUFFEUER.
