PARLIAMENTARY
(From oik: gws OonuKsi'OKDKNT.)
Augiirifc 3. Tlio great question here at present is the proposal to borrow otic million, ami eoastracl a line of railway from the Waikato to Ficw Plymouth. The line has not boon surveyed nor has the land been acquired from, the Natives. There is likely to be great opposition to this bill, many members of tho Government party being opposed to it, while on the other hand the Auckland members belonging to the opposition are expected to support it. The Government will, I understand, make this a Government question, and this may make the bill puss, as thoir supporters may agree to continue their support. The debate will come on to-morrow evening, and it
is believer! that a member of the Government party will move something to put off the decision for twelve months, and that the Government will accept the motion, as coming from one of their old friends. I hear that the opposition will move that the bill be read this day six months, but I believe nothing has yet been settled. I understand that a meeting of the opposition will bi held before the bill comes on for discussion. The decision on this bill may affect the Government.
