CHEESE. To the Editor.
SiR, —I think the Farmers' Glut) made a great mistake at their last meeting, iv
quoting cheese and bacon at the price they did. If they think that by quoting at such afigureit will bring any orders here, ''that's just where tbey make the mistake." I have no doubt but that Messrs Charliek Bros, are large buyers of produce, but at the same time they will be sure to have the Christchurch price current, and when they see it quoted there at 6id lo 7d, and hoar from Akaroa that it is" Bd, you may rest assured they will order from the cheapest market. If one or two eccentric individuals, through jealousy, competition, or some other cause, have given as high as 8d per lb for cheese, and sod it at a loss, that is no reason why the market price should he fixed at that figure. I am not wishing to see cheese a low price—far from it—but we nil know very well the prices quoted, namely, cheese 8d and bacon 7d, are not the ruling rates, and the result will be, an order from South Australia will be a long time corning.—Yours, etc., I SKIM MILK.
