THE RESCINDING OF THIS BY-LAW.

To the Editor. Sir, —Representing to a certain extent the settlers in the neighborhood of Akaroa, I must enter my protest against the action of the Borough Council re the rescinding of by-law prohibiting the passage of cattle from one pare ot the district to tbe other, through the greater part of tbe day, and beg most respectfully to remind them that by placing impediments in the way of the farmers they are injuring their own interests. —Yours, etc., W. T. MASEFIELD.
