His Worship the Mayor.
Robert Knight was charged with having in his possession an unregistered dog. The ease, ou the application of tbe police, was adjourned till Friday, 2nd June. BREACH OP LICENSING ACT. Wes. Chamberlain was charged with selling liquor in his licensed hotel on Sunday, 7th May. The offence was admitted, but the Bench resolved to hear the evidence of a witness, Geo, Saddler, who was in defendant's house on the date in question. Adjourned till next Court day, tbe Bench reserving judgment. LUNACY. Daniel P. Herlity was charged with lunacy. Dr Singleton gave evidence that the prisoner was in a state not fit to be at large, and thought him a fit subject for ihe Lunatic Asylum. Remanded to Christchurch for further examination. CIVIL CASES. Okain's Bay Road Board v. J. Dalgli.-h. A claim for £30 7s 10_d. Mr Dalglish objected that he had rot been served with a summons. It appeared the feummons had been served, but was informal. The case therefore lapsed. Okain's Road Board v. J. Smith. A claim ior £10 9s 9d for rates. No appearance of defendant. Judgment by default for amount claimed, with costs. J. Da glish v. John Recce. A claim for £$ 4s 7id for timber. The defendant ad-
mi t ted the debt, but said he had a contra claim for wharfages. Judgment for amount claimed, with costs, the Bench rein rking that defendant would have to sue plaintiff separately for the contra account.
The Court then adjourned
