EXTENSION OF THE LITTLE RIVER RAILWAY.
Our undefatigable member, Mr Montgomery, whose zeal for our interest seems never to sleep, has forwarded us the following good news for general information. It will be seen by reading it that the Government have really realised the fact that it is against the will of the people of the Peninsula, that the line should run into Lake Forsyth, and that the efforts of those who, aided by our member, have so wartnly opposed any deviation of the line from it 3 onward course to Little River and Akaroa, have been crowned with success :— " Wellington, 10th May. " W. Montgomery, Esq., M.H.R. " Christchurch. " The Engineer in Charge is instructed to advertise for tenders for a further extension. (Signed) Walter W. Johnston.
