AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.
Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report on the Live Stock Market, etc.. for the week end ing Thursday, April 20th, 1882, as follows :—-Yesterday's market at Addington njEffmi presented a full Rupply of all classes of stock, the sheep yards being crammed, whilst of beef there was the largest entry penned for several months' past. Taking into consideration the large number of sheep onofl'er, there was but a small proportion of l-rime, mutton to hand, and the best lotH were well competed for, and realised full rates. Mr R. M, Morten's crossbred wethers brought 15s 3d to 15s Gil, the Longbe.U'h ewes 11s to 14s. For the inferior classes trade was not quite as good, and the various lines of such changed owners fit prices a shade below bite values. For store sheep (of which the bulk of the day's entry was made up) late quotations were, in most cases, fully maintained, especially in your.g sheep; aged lines Lei.ig, perhaps, a little easier to buy. On account of various owners we placed 80 two-tooth crossbred ewes at 9.s Gd ; the same number of full-mouth ewes i,t 9s 7d; and about 300 broken-mouth ditto at 7s !)d. We idso sold 7GO crossbred lambs at !)s 7d, and v number of smaller lots at proportionate prices. In the sale of fat cattle yesterday's transactions were the most unsatisfactory we have ever experienced at these yards. There was a crowded entry, chielly of a li<j;ht and inferior description, and the auction was a complete d:ug from beginning _to end. An uttHfiiu-e of any real competition was noticeable throughout the sale, and as
owners in the m.ijoiiry of cases bud mado up their minds to sell, the result wns extremely low and unsatisfactory prices. The best steers brought ,£7 to £7 10s, weights anil heifers ,E4 10h to £6 l()s, a liirufo numli«r being quitted at ft'xMit £5 10.< to &(') per head. in store cattle iliiire is nothing fr<<sh lo rtipurr, the
(Mitry lining an average one, whilst in prices then) is not the .--lightest t-ign of any improvement. Quod i'rehh conditioned tliree-yeai-old steers brought ,£4 10s to £4 las, two to two and i.-liail-year-oid £3 to £3 10s, weancre up to 18 j ■LLLimilm_a!il 1 ft.i lo 4"hj. GoflCfallv BOeflk—
iriir, Hie store cattle s-de may I" 1 said to h.ve hecn on a par with that of b»>ef. both as ngirda competition and comparative values. In pigs the onl) alteration to note is a slightly better demand tor the heavier fat sorts, l-ut we should advise owners of wich to lvld tlvm over for anoth-T few Week-, until cooler weather has set in. and curing becomes more general. The lotah yarded for the day comprised 8G79 sheep, SSI head of cattle, and 315 pigs.
