INTERPROVINCIAL
POLITICAL
Wellington, April 8.
The Press correspondent telegraphs as follows :—Mr Hall is a little better to-day, but is still in a very unsatisfactory condition. Nothing authentic haa yet transpired relative to the Ministerial situation, nor do I expect to learn anything fresh for a few days. The Premier has been advised by his medical adviser to relinquish office owing to bad state of health, and Dr Grace understands that Mr Hall agrees with his advice. The following is the letter written to Major Atkinson by Dr Grace:—
"April 4 1882
" Dear Atkinson,—! write to ask that yon shall relieve Mr Hull from ail responsibility in regard to public business at the earliest date possible. You know ihat I have been prognosticating for more than 12 months he must infallibly break down. Now that the crash has come, I am anxious in the interest of Mrs Hall _ and the children to conserve his remaining elacticity for the purpose of constitutional repair
" Yours faithfully, " Morgan S. Grace." April 9.
A private telegram from Auckland tonight says Mr Whitaker resigned this morning. It h believed that he did so through certain land transactions.
