CANTERBURY WOOL SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) held their fifth auction sale of wool at the Christ diurch wool and grain warehouses on Wednesday, March 29th, when they offered a catalogue of a varied character. There whh a good attendance of buyers rind brink competition for most of the lots unbmitted. Two or three large lines not reaching owners' reserves were passed in, otherwise the catalogue would have been cleared Out of 719 bales offered, 324 were placed at or immediately after the auction, and buyers are already in treaty for the balance. The prices realised compare favorably with those current earlier in the i-eaßon, and are strong evidence of the firm feeling prevailing in regard to this staple. Subjoined are parti 3ulara of the priced catalogue, from which it will be observed greasy merinos realised B£d to lOjd ; greasy eroaebred, 7fd to IOJd ; wcoured merino, Is s£d to Ja7|d; scoured crossbred, 9£d to Is Id ; lambs, BJd.
