AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

<+ Tuesday, March 21. Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M. drunkenness. L. Johnson, for being drunk and disorderly was fined 225, or in default 48 hours imprisonment. FURIOUS RIDING. Charles Osborne was accused of riding furiously on the Beach road on Monday afternoon. VV. 11. Henning deposed to seeing accused riding down tho street at a furious rate, and thereby endangering foot passengers. The Magistrate said that he bad seen defendant riding most furiously, and it was a wonder he had not done some damage. He was determined to put a stop to this offence, and would fine accused £3 and costs, or in default a week's imprisonment. ASSAULT. Annie Olsen a cuse.l Mary Keiler of violently assaulting her with a broom on the 9th of March at Le Bon's Bay. The defendant did not appear, but sent word by complainant that she felt too ill to come. The Magistrate said that he should issue a warrant against defendant to appear, and adjourned the case for that purpose. CIVIL CASES. S. Curragh v. J. Landergan. Claim £1. Mr Henning for defendant. Plaintiff stated that defendant had sold some tools to Mr McPhail that had been used in a job in which he and defendant were in partnership. He had asked for the money, and defendant had refused to give it to him. Cross-examined by Mr Henning-—I have received the money for the job we were doing from the Road Board. I received about £160. I have never given a statement of accounts to my partner. The partnership accounts have not been settled. The Magistrate said, as the partnership accounts had not been settled he had no jurisdiction, and dismissed the case. Kissel v. 11. P. Meyer. Judgment summons. Adjourned tor a fortnight for affidavit of service of summons. The Court then adjourned.
