AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.
Messrs H. Matson and Co. report on the Live Stock Market, etc., for the week end ing Thursday, March 9th, 1882, a« follows :—For yesterday's Addington market a large supply of sheep were again sent to hfind, though the yards were not nearly as full as on the previous week. Store cheep made a liirger proportion of the entry than at any snle this season—in fact, out of about 8000—the number penned— there was not sufficient mutton to meet the requirements of the trade, and the few lots of fat Rheep on offer met with a brisk •competition and ready sale at an advance of Is to Is Gd per head on late rates. Prime crownbred wether.s brought 12s Gd to 13a 6d ; an exceptionally good line of ewes sent to hand by Messrs Trent Bios realising 14b and 14s 3d. In stores, as showing the strong demand that exists for young Round breeding ewes, we may mention that, amongst others, we disposed of a line of between 800 and 900 big framed 2, 4, and 6 tooth crossbred* on Wednesday at 11h 6d to 11s 9d, mixed 2 tooth crossbredn at lie 3d, also a number of nged crossbred ewes at 7n 6>l to 9.5. aged merinos 5s to 6*. On the wholo the sale was a most satisfactory one, every line of store sheep being sold lit fully maintained—and in some instances advanced—rates, fat eheop generally at a rise of from Iβ to Iβ 6d per head. In beef there was a come what limited supply, the quality for the moNt part being second rate. Values ruled about the same •as last week, and very few lota remained unsold at the close of the snle. Medium weight steers brought £7 10s to £8 10s; light weights and heifers, £5 10s to £7. In stores there was a large entry of young «tock, yearlings and two-year-olds representing the bulk of the number, with very few grazing lines on offor. For the first mentioned the enquiry was not quite as brisk as a fortnight since. Still, of about 250 head submitted by ourselves not more than one or two small lots were passed in. The total numbers yarded were 7886 sbeep, 662 head of cattle, and 330 pigs.
