SPORTING.

The annual meeting under the auspices of the Port "Victoria Club was held on Thursday last at the Head of the Bay, in a paddock kindly lent for the occasion by Messrs Gebbie. There were about 500 people on the ground. Herewith is appended a list of the events with tho results:—•

Handicap Huudles, 20 soys; two miles

eight flights hurdles. Mr J. Piper's b in Levant, list 41b Mr T. Sheenan's Kosciusko. 10st2lb

Also ran—Mr R. Master's br h Young Diomedes, lOst 121b ; Mr E. Muriitt's Moa, Bst 101b; Mr J. Bracher's eh m Bijou, aged, 7st 91b.

Bijou came to grief at the last hurdle. Levant and Kosciusko took the hurdles well, and a close finish was made between the two.
