Mr A. f. McGregor reports holding a large sale of furniture, -&v... at the residence of Mr F. W. Williams, IMiinson's liny, on Friday last. There was m huge attendance of the public, ivnd biddings were spirited, and fair average pricps wero realised. Several saddle and unbroken horses, belonging to Mr Williams and various other owneis, were offered, but. all passed in. the prices offered not coming up to sellers' ideas. Hacks are quite a drug in the Peninsula market ;<t present, nnd sales very difficult to effect ,t anything like pacing price*.

Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report on the Live Stuck IWnrket, elc, for the week end •ing Thursday, February '23rd. 1882, as fo.lows :—For yesterday's weekly Addington ninrket there was a large supply of ■stock, more especially stores, of which two-thirds of the entry was made up. For the comparatively small quantity of miiltoi) (in oiler a fair competition was shown, and the various lots were cle red at rates which, though irretrulnr, were on the nvenifie al out in accordance with the last months quotations. Ak showing the flm-Hialioii of prices several lines of precisely the same weight and quality brought Is per head over last weeks rates, nnd others Is to Is (Id per herd less. Ptiine crossbred wethors realised 11s to 12s. or cqiwl to a quotation nflfd to 2(1 per ]b. Fat merino wethers 7s to Bs. In stores there was the largest entry of tlie season, and although plenty of buyers were present, they wire s< nicely prepared lv pay the high rates which in some cases were being asked for lines of breeding ■ewes. We however feel certain that owine to the, undoubted scarcity .of breeding stock (sheep especially) in llie. province, values will for some time to come increase than otherwise. Of a line of 2000 sound mouthed uieiino ewes submitted yesterday we placed 500 at 5, thu balance unsold. We also disposed of various lots of aged crossbred ewos nt fr< m 7s to 8« ; shorn hoggets, viiiy inferior 7s Bd, &c Four and 6-tooth crosstu'ed ewes are miieli inquired after, and worth i)s to 10s :i head where procurable. Fat I.nubs am lecoming scarce in the market.; in fact, it pays •owners ! s we 1 lo hold them over for stores :as to sell to the butcher, and buy nt exo-s----sivc rates other classes of sheep. The entry or' fat entile was a somewhnt limited one, and of between 70 and 80 head submitted by ourselves every lot w.is well coiu| etpfl l<ir anil readily sold at price. , :, fully 'faring out our late quotation". 'The best, f< c -rs brought £8 to '£*■> per bo'ul; inwijnui w ighls and heifers, ,l! 6to £7 10s Tiie result of the store'cattle sale, yesterday proves that there is decidedly more net? vily in the market lhan n few weeks wnce. On in count of various owners we offered about 280 head i>l : mixed classes, and succeeded in quitting over '200 of the number, We do not, quote much material alteration in price, but n better demand with inorf! re-'idy sale. The large inquiry for More pigs for stubble purposes, and i.he. high pric-ps paid for si.ie.-h during the pn.xt i'ew weuks. had the cfiect of crowding the titarket yesterday. Over GOO, chiefly stores weie penned and all sold, prices on the whole being i r ery satis-
