Resolution as follows :-■ That the Government be written to urging upon them the absolute waste of money it would be to form a temporary siding from the present terminus of the Little River and Akaroa Railway to the jetty at Lake Forsyth, aa the lake is not even available for boating timber down. in .summer time; and further, that: the Council considers that no deviation whatsoever .should be made from the Une originally laid off, and that a copy of this resolution ho forwarded to the Akaroa Borough Council, Mr Montgomery and each Road Board in (he County, asking than to co-operate with the Council in urging upon the Government the waste, of money it would be to form the temporary siding to the lake.'— Yours, etc.. " Edwarp S. Latter, " Clerk of Council."
Mr .McDonald proposed, "That the Board co-operate with the County Council to ''ring ;.li possible influence to bear upon ihc Government, that in extending the Akaroa Railway they follow the surveyed line, and that this Board most emphatically condemn the idea of a siding to the jetty at Lake Porsyth." Seconded by Mr Shadbolt and carried. old duvauchelle's bay road. A communication was read from the County Council, informing the Board that the old Duvauchelle's Bay and old Le Bon's Bay roads had been stopped as by law required. After discussion, it was resolved ''That the Chairman make an arrangement with Mr A. I. McGregor to value the old Duvauchelle's Bay road." GRASS SEED. The following letter from Mr E. C. Latter was read :—
" Fenrialf.on, Christohurch, -Taji.'l'*- *■''*"■'--- i • 'Sir. I have A';'. he.**rd Aint the lA*a.:'d ] intend to diApoK".; of the grass seed grow-- | in*"*; on what A called Earuiar.'s tracic in Barry's Bay, and T wril.3 at once to ask you to reconsider tho matter, as I rio not "think the Board would wish to do act of injustice. I would point out that it is even not yet known where Harman's track should be and that consequently as whereeveritis it runs through my land, I have had to pay for clearing and sowing the truck, which I should not have done if the Board had made the road. I hold a letter from the Chief Surveyor dated only a week since, (viz., 31st Dec.)' informing me that my sections aro about to be surveyed. When the survey is completed I suppose the position of Harman's track will be determined. At present no one knows certainly, but there is no doubt that I have had nil the expenses to bear, and I do not think that you or the Boaid would wish to make a claim of which there must he great doubts as to ils legality apart from its equity. Please give the matter your consideration.—Yours, etc.,
'• E. C. Latter."
It was resolved that the letter be acknowledged with thanks, and that he be informed that tbe Board had let the grass seod on the road and therefore could not interfere in the matter as the question was clearly between himself and the contractor.

LE BON'S SUMMIT ROAD,
Messrs Sandys and Co. wrote as follows
" Ellangowan, Akaroa, Jan. 26,1882,
" Sir, —We have to call your attention t-5 the unsatisfactory manner in which Messrs Ward and Sullivan have carried out their contract. Our reasons for complaint are: —That the water channels have not sufficient depth ; also, that the slope in many cases is to the outside edge of the road, two serious defects on a wet road. If Mr Barwick was to see the road ho would be able to remedy the defects, ns the late rains have made them very conspicious. —Yours, etc.,
" Sandys & Co."
The Clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Ward and Sullivan instructing them to immediately complete their contract according to the specifications, THISTLES. The Chairman said that he should like to hear the specification ot keeping the roads clear read. He did this because he noticed that the thistles interfered greatly with the travelling public. When any one on horseback or in a trap met a conch or other vehicle, the} 7 could not get their horses to leave, tho middle of the road because of the thistles on the side, and were placed in considerable danger thereby. The Clerk then read the specification for keeping the sections of the main Christchurch road in repair, from which it appeared that the contractors were bound to keep the road clear of thistles the whole width of the formation. It was.agreed the question of cutting any thistles in places not required by the specification should be left in the hands ot the Clerk. kbarney's cough's bay track. Mr Checkley brought forward the necessity of having tenders called for the formation of this road, It was resolved tenders should be called for next meeting. ACCOUNTS.
