THE NEW LICENSING DISTRICTS.
The following are the boundaries of the Licensing Districts under the new Act, in the County and Borough of Akaroa :— "Akaroa County. " Port Levy. —Bounded towards the west by the summit of the Port hills ; thence by a straight line through Trig, station Ll to Mount Herbert; thence by a straight line to Mount Herbert Peak ; thence by the Mount Herbert Peak road and the Purau and Akaroa road to a point on the summit of the range where tho ridge of the spur between Decanter Bay and Little Akaloa Bay intersects it; towards the East by the said spur to the sea ; towards the North by the sea to Church gully in Church Bay ; thence by a straight line across the harbor to the south-east corner of the Native reserve at Raupaki, following the north-eastern boundary of said reserve to the Port hills, the place of commencement.
" Okain's Bay. —Bounded towards the North-east by the ocean ; towards the South by the summit of the spur leading irom Putakoto Head ; thence towards the South-west by the highest ridge of the hills ; and on the North-west by the Port Levy Licensing District to the place of commencement.
" Berard. —Bounded towards the Northwest by the summit of the Pigeon Bay ranges ; towards the East and again towards the North by Okain's Bay Licensing district to the ocean; towards the South-east by the ocean; towards the West by Akaroa harbor to a point on the western side of the Head of the Bay, being east of and in line with the northern boundary of Section No 729 ; thence by a straight line to the north-east corner of said section; thence by the northern boundary thereof to the south eastern corner of Section No 8449 ; thence by the north-eastern boundary of said section to the north-eastern corner thereof ; thence by the new Pigeon Bay road to the road separating Sections Nos 8798 and 6660, by the latter road to the old Pigeon Bay road ; and from thence by that road to the summit of the Pigeon Buy ranges, the place of commencement.
" Little Biver. —Bounded towards the North-west and again towards the North by the Selwyn County ; towards the south by the ocean ; towards the East by Akaroa harbor and Berard Licensing district; and towards the North by Port Levy Licensing district to the place of commencement. AKAROA BOROUGH. "Akaroa. —being all that area known as the Borough of Akaroa. Bounded by a line commencing at 'a point where the northern branch of the Mill stream falls into the sea, continued easterly along the northern branch of ihe said stream to the first fork; thence iv a straight line southerly to the trig pole marked A qn tbe hill ; thence in the same direction to the point where the Balguerie road meets the eastern boundary of Watson street; thence along the eastern side of the said street to where it crosses the eastern boundary of Lelievre's land; thence southerly along the said eastern boundary and along the boundary of Malrnanche's land to the Rue Charbonnier; thence across the Rue Charbonnier and onwards southerly in the same direct line as the eastern boundary of Malmanche's land to Aylrner street; thence westerly along the southern side of that street to its junction with South street; thence along the eastern side of the last named till it meets a line in continuation of tbe northeast side of Abattoir Reserve ; thence north-westerly along said line and the north-eastern boundary of the Abattoir Reserve to low-water mark ; thence along low-water mark to commencing point. Mr Baleman Thomas Missen has been gazetted Clerk of all the above districts. The Act states that the Resident Magistrate is Returning Officer, so Mr Justin Ayhner holds the appointment. As the Act states that as soon as conveniently may, after the constitution of a district under the Act, tho election of Licensing Committees shall take place, we presume that before long there will bo some in the matter. The elections are conducted in the same manner as those for County Councils, Borough Councils, or Road Boards.
