'■pHE Board, in pursuance of powers J_ in that behalf conferred by " The Education Act, 1877," section 64. hereby directs that a Public Meeting oi the householders in every school district throughout the Education District oi North Canterbury be held on Monday, the twenty-third day of January, One thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, at seven o'clock in the evening, for the election in each district of seven householders (section 58) to form the Committee for such district for the yeai ending with the fourth Monday ii: January next year. The place of meeting shall be the Schoolhouse in each district which is provided with a Schoolhouse ; and this is understood to mean the main Schoolhouse, in any district which has mor< than one bchool. The Board further directs that tin first meeting of each School Coinimttei be held in the place appointed for th< election, and immediately after the elec tion, upon the same evening. The Board requests the chairman o each public meeting to make to th Board, immediately after the election, return of the names of the several house holders elected to iorm the Committee and recommends that each Chairman c Committee report his own election a soon as possible.
