THE JETTY CRANE.
To the Editor.
Sin, — The Briton, when visiting "Fresh fields and pastures new," is notorious for rushing into print to air his grievances. This effusion will prove to you that I am no exception to the rule. I am a temporary sojourner among , you, in search of change of scene, change of air, but, above all, quietude. Judge, then, sir. of the effect on my overstrained nerves of the discordant screeching produced when the jetty crane is being worked. I wonder i who are the custodians of the wharf, and ' I also wonder if lubricants are scarce in Akaroa. Seriously, sir, tho dismal sounds
evoked from th-it crane are more than an annoyance 10—Yours, etc.. WAGSTAFF'S HOTEL
