HP HE Board, in pursuance of powers L in that behalf conferred by " The Education Act, 1877." section 61, hereby directs that a Public Mfrting of the householders in every school district throughout the Education District of North Canterbury be held on Monday, the twenty-third daj of January, One thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, at seven o'clock in the evening, for the election in each district of seven householders (section 58) to form the Committee for such district for th« year ending with the fourth Monday in January next year. The place of meeting shall be the Schoolliouse in each district which is provided with a Sohoolhouse ; and this is understood to mean the main Schoolhouse, in any district which has more than one bchbol. The Board fu-.-ther directs that the first meeting of each School Comn.ittee be held in the place appointed for the election, and immediately after the election, upon the same evening. The Board requests the chairman of each public meeting to make to the Board, immediately after the election, a return of the names of the s vera] householders elected to form the Committee, and recommends that each Chairman of Committee report iiis own election as soon as possible.
