The Polling.
On Monday, at the hour of 9 a.m., many electors might be seen wending their way towards the polling booths, and during the day great commotion was visible in Tai Tapu, Little River, and at the Roail Board Office, every available vote being polled. At four o'clock a good number collected at the latter place to hear the declaration of the poll, betting having freely been indulged in (of new hats). At 6.30 Mr Quealy, the returning officer, having had the returns from the deputies at Tai Tapu and Little River, announced the state of the poll ns follows : — Little Kaituna Tai River. Office. Tapu. Ttl. F. Birdling ... 42 29 43 114 T. H. Parkinson 24 38 47 109 Jos. Judge ... 20 22 38 80 Thos. Leitham. 2 5 53 60 JohnOlphert... 51 4 3 58 The three first named were declared duly elected.
