Melbourne, January 5.
An unsuccessful attempt was made last night to set fire to the ship Oasis, lying at the Sandriolge Pier. A quantity of shavings, saturated with resin and kerosene, were found to be on fire, but were extinguished without any damage being done The carpenter of the ship is stated to be implicated in the attempt.
