Messrs J. P. Ford and Co. report on the Live Stock market for the week ending ThiKSflny, Dec, 29, as follows: - Christmas week being so broken by hollidayn, arid the uncertainty "of buj-ers turning up on Wednesday, accounted in a very great measure fur the short supply at the Addington market; but, short as the supply was, it proved more than miflicient for the requirements of the trade, and it was with nine!) difficn ty that, lines were quitted at prices equal to previous week's rates. Of course, there are many causes for the dullness in the fat stock ■market. The trade attribute it to fish, poultry., and hot weather ; but no doubt '-the , main cause is over-supply. We quote ■mutton at l|d per Ib, and beef at 20s per 'lOOlbs. Store stock, considering the dry "weather, are Belling exceedingly well, especially store sheep. Southland lihr been draining the ponthern part of this Province of cross bred two-tootlis, and during the last raonMi we understand that upwards of 30,000 have crossed the border. This will prove a great boon to the Province generally, as they will make room for weaners, and considerably ease our pastures, which are beginning to suffer for want of rain.
