LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of this Board wn held sit the Office on Friday, the iiOih inst. Present—Messrs Forbes (chairman), T. H.

Parkinson, Wilson, and Judge. The minutes of previous meeting having boon confirmed, the Clerk's report was considered, after which it \v-\n resolved that the matter of making side ditches along the* Hill road, Little River, he poHtponed, and that the (Jlerk attend to repairs necessary. With regard to the encroachments on the road leading to Western Valley, it was resolved that the' Clerk proceed to Christchurch to obtain a plan of this part of the road and place it with all correspondence and other information in the h .nds of a solicitor for advice, also that the Clerk atterd to the state of some culverts on Okute Valley road, And that his action in selling the timber in Kimber's old bridge be confirmed. It was resolved that the Natives be employed to cart screened shingle from the river bed above the bridge by Mr J. Archery's house, Little River, and stack it on the road at their offer. Correspondence was received from Mr O'Callaghan, permission to plough and harrow side of road leading to McQueen's Valley with a view to kill young gorse. Granted in terms of his letter. From the Chief Surveyor, re transfer of roads, etc. Resolved that the thanks of the Board be tendered to the Chief Surveyor for his uniform courtesy, and the valuable information contained in his letter. From Tribe and Murray, asking for material to make an approach to their property. The Board could not grant it for private use. Berryman's tender to do work on Dunford's Valley road was accepted.

After passing accounts for payment, and other business of a routine character, the Board rose.
