AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Tuesday, December 20. Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M., CATTLE TRESPASS. John Curry, for having three horses wandering within the Borough was fined the usual 5» and costs. MALICIOUS INJURY TO PROPERTY. John Murray alias Auckland Jack, James Green, and J. LeCom'te were charged with the above offence. F. Orchard deposed that ou the eVening of Tuesday, 16th inst., he saw Murray holding on to the hand rail at the Government wharf steps. The other prisoners were endeavoring to get him into a boat, but he persisted in holding on to the rail, which gave way and fell into the boat. E, Watkins gave similar evidence. Constable Scotr deposed that LeOomte told him lip had thrown the rail into the sea near Daly's jetty after they left the wharf. The Bench discharged prisoners Green and LeComte, and Murray was fined 20s and ordered to pay 20s damages, costs lis, and witnesses' expe'iies 12s. In default 14 days hard labor. CIVIL CVSES. J. Curry v. E. W. Morey. Claim £39 2s lid. Mr Henning appeared for plaintiff and stated the case. A certificate from Dr Russell was produced, stating that defendant was unable to attend through illness. The case was consequently adjourned till Tuesday, 20th January. The Court then adjourned.
