Refoninir to the latter, prices for young sheep of anycliFs have up to the present time been well maintained, but at yesterday's auction 'there was very liftle demand, and sales: where made niled decidedly more in favor of buyers. Of the mutton fully one--Ihi id wuiit out unsold, the best cross-bred Wrtlwre being placed at from Gi to TOs 451 (one exceptionally good Hue at 12s) ; medium quality 8s Gl to 9>». fat merino Avethers from Gs to 7s. Of fat lambs tliiire was a large supply, but the Christmas dost' nt hnnd ihey were evidently wanted, mul met wilh a .good stile at from 6s Gil to 8s Gd for the li-est lots, a fow scrubbers at 5". Tht> fat cattle sale brought forward a considerable entry of U'.m(, tin. , quality varying from very inrVrinr tv prime. Of (he latter class Messrs liny Bros, contributed one of the lie-it lines of steers, which brought from All 10s to ,£8 10s per head ; mixed lots for various owners, £G t'> £7 10s, represening low'aud unimpiovttd rates. The store cattle tnarkut was made by a somewhat small entry, chietly of yenrlinge, two-y -ar-olds and old cews. Where sales of any of/the above was made, prices ruled 'low, and buyers had matters pretty much their own way. For good fresh condittiou three-year-old i-teers, however, £5 and upward is being asked, and in many instances paid.
