PURSUANT to "The Canterbury Road Ordinance, 1872," and " The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876," I, JOHN BARWICK, Returning Officer for the Akaroa and Wainui Roa j District, hereby give notice that an Election of Three Members, in room of Benjamin Shadbolfc, Thomas Brooks, and George Checkley, who retire in terms of the above Ordinance, will be held at the Office of the said Board, Duvauchelle's Bay, on Saturday, the 7th day of January next. The Nomination of Candidates, which must be in the form in the second schedule to the above Act, will take place at the said Road Board Office at noon on Saturday, the 24th instant, and a Poll (if necessary) will be taken at the said Office, also at the Council Chambers, Akaroa, and at the Old Schoolhouse, Wainui, on Saturday, the 7th day of January, 1882, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nomination forms may be obtained at the office of the Akaroa Mail, or from the undersigned, at the Road Board Office. TpHE ANNNAL MEETING cf JL Ratepayers will be held at the Road Board Office on Friday, Janunry 6th, 1882, at 12 o'clock, when Nominations of Three Members to serve on the Board will take place in room of Messrs Parkinson, Birdling, and Judge, who go out by rotation, but are eligible for re election. Should a Poll be demanded, it will be held on the following Monday, January 9th, at Tai Tapu, Little River, and the Road Board Office. Tenders are invited to do work on the road leading to Dunford's Valley, Taij Tapu. To be lodged not later than noon on Friday, December 30th. IN consequence of the Resident Magistrate of Akaroa having found, upon petition, that the Election of John Beilby Barker, who was declared elected to the office of Member for the Okain's Riding, in the County of Akaroa, on the 16th day of November last, is NULL AND VOID, I, ALEXANDER INNES McGREGOR, Returning Officer for the said County, hereby give PUBLIC NOTICE, in terms of sec. 46 of " The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876, that an Election of Councillor to fill the Extraordinary Vacancy thereby caused in the office of Member for the Riding of Okain's, in the said County, will be held in the Schoolroom, Little Akaloa, on Wednesday the 4th day of January, 1882. And I further give notice, in terms of sec. 10 of the above-recited Act, that Nominations of Candidates for the said office will be received, addressed and directed to the Returning Officer, at any time after the publication of this notice and before NOON of Saturday, the 24th day of December current.
