PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held in its office on Saturday, 3rd Dec. Present—Messrs Hay. (chairman,) Pettigrew, Paton, arid Pitcaithly. The minutes .of last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was then read. From Mr Holmes, regarding , the fencing of the road through Holmes' Bay, given by him in exchange for the Government road. The Clerk was directed to write again to Mr Holmes to correct an error in last letter to him on this subject. From the County Clerk intimating that he had remitted to the Bank of New Zealand Lytt lton, to the credit of the Board the subsidy allocated to this Board by the Council. From the accountant to the Colonial Treasury, advising the remittance of the 10s subsidy on the rates to the credit of tho Board's account at the Ihnk of New Zealand, Lyttelton. From the same, enclosing copy, treasury voucher for above subsidy. From Mr McGregor, Akaroa, offering to make up for tho Board the valuation roll for 1882. It was proposed by Mr Paton, seconded by Mr Pettigrew, and earned, that this offer be accepted, and the Clerk was instructed to intimate the same to Mr McGregor. From the Bank of New Zealand Lyttelton, intimating the amount of the Board's account at that office. From the Clerk of the Okain's Bay Road Board, in reply to a note of enquiry sent, informing thia Board that a tracing of the boundary between the two districts might bo had at the Chief Surveyor's office. The Clerk was instructed to write the Chief Surveyor for a tracing showing the boundary line accurately. From the surfaceman, with monthly report, showing that he had been 24 days at work. The Board passed accounis to the amount of £13 10s. The Board now considered the disposing of the cocksfoot grass on the niai (1) from ihe pound to the beach, (2) from the- pound up the Akaroa road to the Summit, and (3) along the Summit road between the Old and the New Akaroa roads. The tenderer for the first of these (or between the- pound and tho beach) was to supply the Board," as part payment, with as much bay (laid down) as would fill the pound-house to the satisfaction of the poundkeopi-r. The Clerk was directed to take the preliminary steps towards the election of two ratepayers to serve on the Board as momhors. in lien oi Messrs Pettigrew and Budiia, who retire by rotation. After consideration of the above, the Board adjourned,
