Akuwa Regatta.—A meeting of the Committee is called for Friday evening next.
Local Nkws — Cheese has risen to from 4{d to per lb, with stocks low and a good demand.
Thanks. —Elsewhere Mr Joblin thanks the Little River electors for electing him as their representatives.
Jam and Pickle Factory.—lt is announced (whilst Akaroa is sleeping) that it is intended to start a jam and pickle factory in Dunedin.
TIIK COMI'LIMKNTAIiV DrNMER TO MR Williams. —An advertisement requests those interested to meet at the Head of the Bay at noon, on Thursday next.
Electoral.—Mr Montgomery addressed the electors in the Oddfellows' Hall last night. A report of his speech appears elsewhere.
Akaroa Electoral District. — The following are the polling places gazetted for the Akaroa Electoral district :—The Court House Akaroa, (principal,) the schoolhouse, Okain's Bay, the schoolhouse, Pigeon Bay, the schoolhouse, Little River, the schoolhouse, Governor's Bay.
Akaroa Regatta.—ln another column will be found an advertisement requesting subscribers to the Regatta to send in their contributions on or before December 1* There is a prospect of another yacht from Dunedin (Mr Gihbs' Spray) competing, so that this race promises to be the best ever held hero.
Thr Mayoralty.—Messrs Adams and Meech were the only burgesses nominated on Saturday as candidates for the office of Mayor for the ensuing year. A correspondent points out that the aspirants should explain their view* to the ratepayers, an opinion in which we heartily concur.
Sailing Match.—A sailing match between Mr Baker's Avalanche and Mr Tosswill's Dream took place on Saturday. The course was from Tekau Bay to Akaroa jetty and tliGnce to French Farm. The wind was steady from the N.E. Mr Baker's boat took the lead at-starting and maintained it to the end, winning by a considerable distance. The owners of the boats have determined on another match shortly.
All those who wish to save money, and that are in want of Drapery, should pay a visit to Messrs Moore's Sale, opposite Wharf, where they will receive such genuine Bargains for Ready Money as must astonish and surprise them. The goods are of a specially good description, and we feel sure that the prices at which they are being sold must defy competition.— Adot.
